In Remembrance...

We observed Remembrance Day this week by reading a story called A Bear in War, writing postcards to Veterans, and creating this beautiful poppy art work.

Daily 5

We started using the Daily 5 literacy framework this week. The Daily 5 structure allows students to work independently and in small groups. During Daily 5 time students engage in reading, writing, and word work activities. It allows me to work with small groups of students on specific reading and writing goals. This week guided reading groups focused on decoding skills, reading fluency, or reading expression.

I Need My Monster

Students did a great job with this writing assignment. Their use of adjectives really brought the monster to life. We are displaying the writing with their monster under the bed illustrations.

VIP

We celebrated Nik this week! Everyone loved the light sabre he brought for Show and Tell!

Math

We completed our Patterning unit. Our next unit is Place Value (to 1000).

Science

This week in science we had a quiz on the parts of the ear and how sound travels through the ear.  We also continued to talk about pitch and decibels.

Social Studies

We continued to learn about India, we learned about quality of life, needs and wants as well as what a service is and how the services in India are different than in Canada. The students are always excited to learn more about India and share with the class.
