Fieldtrip and Friendship

Friend Poem

Students finished writing their Friend poems this week. This was a wonderful collaboration of peers and they did an amazing job!

Library Fieldtrip

What a gem we have in town! The 3A class, along with 1/2D, enjoyed a tour of the Devon Public Library. Mrs. Becker entertained us with 3 friendship stories and taught us how to make friendship bracelets. Mrs. Rosentreter gave each student a form to fill out so they could get a FREE library card! The students were excited about the wide assortment of books available to borrow. We are so thankful to have this amazing library in our community!

Math

Students played a new math game this week to practice subtraction facts. We are also still using xtramath and mathletics online to practice math. You can access both of these sites at home by clicking the link on the blog.

We finished our subtracting with regrouping lessons and will be reviewing next week. We also worked on problem solving. We first identified the clue words in the question to determine if we were to add or subtract and then completed the equation.

We will be having a quiz on adding and subtracting with and with out regrouping next week.

In March, we will begin our multiplication and division unit. The class is very excited about this!

Science

This week in science we continued our building unit.  We tested beams and arches the class is really enjoying this unit and all the hands on building.

Social Studies

This week in social studies we began learning about Peru. We learned as a class it takes about 13 hours to fly to Peru and that it is over 8000kms away! The class also learned that they do farming in Peru and llamas are used to help them carry heavy loads.
