What a Week!

ELA

Bat and the Waiting Game

We finished the sequel to our class read aloud. It is a great series and students were excited to hear there is a third book. The 3 Bat books are being sold in the Lucky book order this month. If you are interested in ordering check it out on our class scholastic account or email me!

Spelling Bee

We have been practicing spelling words this week in preparation for the spelling bee on Thursday. We are using memory aids to help us remember the trickier spellings.

Handwriting

We practiced handwriting the letter x this week. We also practiced writing our spelling words in handwriting. I am so proud of the grade 3s for their effort in learning cursive. They truly have beautiful handwriting! We have one lower case letter left to learn then we will begin our study of capital letters.

Spellings of Long Vowel sounds

We reviewed what we have learned about the spellings of long a, i, and o.

Star Student

Scarlett shared with us all her badges from Brownies and Girl Guides. We can see how hard she has worked to earn those. Way to go Scarlett!

Math

Repeated Addition and Skip counting by 2s and 4s

We are working on pre-multiplication skills this week. The students are showing to have a solid understanding of the concepts so far.

Science

This week in science we tested stability of containers. Students learned about how the shorter the container and the wider the base is the more stable it will be. Next week we will be testing straws and toothpicks!

Social Studies

In social studies this week we learned about different imports and exports in Peru. As well as, the different natural resources in Peru.

We also had Tunisia day! Students were able to try dates, baklava and couscous. We also made bean mosaics and practiced straw weaving.
