Friday night is Movie Night! Come watch the Lego Movie at RBES. Bring the family! Tickets are on-sale before school and at lunch. $5/family. http://www.rbes.ca/calendar.html
Permission for the Rumpelstiltskin fieldtrip is required for your child to be able to go. Please fill out the online permission form by Friday. Thank you! https://powerschool.blackgold.ca/public/
Rainbow Words: Students now have all the Red Words on their rings. They should be practicing these nightly, along with the Home Reading Book. Friday I will be reading with the students again to make sure they all know the red words before they get the orange ones next week. Thanks for helping your child learn their sight words. If you would like ideas on how to make practicing the words more 'fun', please let me know!
Home-Reading: Students are doing a great job remembering to bring their black folder on Mondays and Thursdays so they can exchange their books. They are also excited to be collecting beads! Students can colour in one of the books on the sheet every time they read a book! Recording the title helps us to make sure they are getting a variety of books to read. I am sending home only Level 1/A books for now. Students may be able to read some of these books on their own. They also may need lots of help! Let me know if you'd like ideas on how to support your child's reading at home. :)
Halloween is almost a week away! Students are able to wear a costume all day next Friday. It should be comfortable as we will be doing regular work in the morning. After lunch there will be a whole school costume parade in the gym. For the remainder of the afternoon, 1K and 1N will be partnering for A Halloween Sensory Spectacular! There will be learning centers set up in both classrooms that students will rotate through. All the centers will be of a Halloween theme and will require the students to really use their senses! The centers will be a celebration of our '5 Senses' unit that we are studying in Science. One of the centers will be a Tasty Treat that we will provide so no need to worry about sending a special snack that day. I already have 2 parent volunteers helping out that day in class, but if you'd like to contribute from home I am looking for a few parents to make playdough or punch. Let me know if you can help with either of those things! Thank you!! It will be a fun day of learning for the class!
Students are enjoying the Mystery Readers! Thank you to Mrs. Appleton who surprised us today. We loved Jamie Lee Curtis' story, 'My Brave Year of Firsts: Tries, Sighs, and High Fives'. Thanks for sharing it with us!
