This Week:
Monday: Home Reading, XC practice
Tuesday: Library
Wednesday: XC practice, Early Dismissal 2:15pm
Thursday: Home Reading
Friday: Assembly 8:45am, XC practice
In the Classroom:
ELA: Home Reading begins! Students are expected to read every evening. New Home Reading books will be sent home every Monday and Thursday. Students are encouraged to read the same book several times to improve fluency and build confidence. When students read confidently at their level (most students start at A), they will move up a letter. Students progress at their own pace and will be instructed at their level. The range for Grade One is approx. A-H. Rainbow word rings are also being sent home. Please keep these in the Kanga pouch so students can practice at home daily and add new words at school. Thank you!
Also this week...Thanksgiving themed stories and writing. Daily 5. Phonics and Printing.
Math: Last week, we practiced subitizing. Playing board games at home/games with dice or cards helps students learn this skill.
We are finishing our number line and beginning our Pattern unit!
Science: Introduction to The Five Senses.
Social: Discussions on Belonging... to our Families, our Class, our School...
