Soapstone Carving!

Students enjoyed making the Soapstone Foxes on Monday.  Thank you parents for supporting special art opportunities like this one. It was such a unique experience for the students and they turned out really neat!

Students used a special tool called a riffler to etch the details onto the fox.
One thing we learned: If you think you've gone deep enough...go deeper!

Learning about the Inuit origins of Soapstone.

We used 3 different grades of sandpaper to achieve the soft soapy feel of the finished fox carving.
