In the Classroom:
ELA: We are studying Fairytales. So far we have read The Princess and the Pea and a fractured fairytale version called The Princess and the bag of Frozen Peas.We have read a fun version of The Three Little Pigs called The Three Pigs, and are now working on our own retelling of the Three Little Pigs using finger puppets. Later in the week we will build a house out of a choice of 3 materials and will be testing them to see which can stand the power of the Big Bad Blowdryer!
We are continuing with Daily 5, guided reading, and working with blends. This week students will do the Star Reading Assessment.
Math: We have completed our study of 2D and 3D shapes, and will be studying addition and subtraction to 20 for the remainder of the year. We will focus on problem solving and recall of basic facts to 5. Today we played a card game called 10s Pyramid. It can be played with any deck of cards and is a fun and challenging way to practice addition facts that equal 10. Try it at home!
Science: We will be doing a couple more building projects with a Fairytale theme.
Social: We have been studying Devon as a community, and will begin to look at our communities past.
