In the Classroom:
ELA:
Stellaluna is our focus book this week. Students will identify the story elements (characters, setting, problem, solution) and sequence the events of the story. Students will recognize all stories have a beginning, middle, and end. Our Phonological Awareness activities this week will be based on the book, Stellaluna. Students will also participate in the Daily 5, work on learning the next 5 orange words, and do guided reading with me.
Math:
We are working with numbers up to 50. This includes counting in different ways (by 2s, 5s, 10s), knowing what numbers come Before/After a number, and identifying what number is greater than/less than/equal to a number.
Science:
We will be comparing Bats to Birds and play a game to learn more about Echolocation. We will revisit our KWL chart to see what we have Learned about Bats so far.
Social:
We have a few more students who need to share a Group they belong to. This is the last week for Show and Share. Students will learn about the Decision Making Process.
Health:
We are starting the Mind Up program this week. We will be doing a couple lessons a week on Mindfulness from now until the end of January.
PE:
We have been working on Dribbling skills through a variety of games and activities.
Music:
Students are preparing for an Old-fashioned Christmas Sing-along night.
Art:
This week's art will be completely Batty!
