We are getting familiar with the chromebooks. We have learned to log on, how to get to our class blog, and how to access many website links. This week we explored Santa Tracker, Tumblebooks, and abcya. We have accounts with Teach Your Monster to Read, Epic, Mathletics, and more. After Christmas we will be using the chrome books during our Daily 5 and Math centre time in support of literacy and numeracy. You can access all of these website at home.

We made Christmas Crackers after our visit to South Africa. 

We had a vote. Introducing the 1B Penguins! 
Students designed the class flag by first deciding on a symbol 
and then choosing class colours. Rainbow of course! 
Students did an amazing job drawing the adorable penguins. 
Art hub for kids has great drawing videos like this one.

Health

We had a Smoothie cart visit! The cart is part of Alberta Education's school Nutrition program. We learned how to make a smoothie using many healthy ingredients. We didn't like all the ingredients but we loved the smoothie!
Here is the recipe to try at home:

2 cups orange juice
1 cup cranberry juice
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 banana
1 avocado
2 handfuls spinach
6 cups frozen mixed berries (strawberries/blueberries)
6 cups ice

Blend and serve. The recipe made 16 cups.
