December 15-19

It's the last week of school before Christmas break. What a journey these last 4 months have been! Such amazing growth I've seen in the students so far in Grade 1!  I hope everyone has a wonderfully restful and joyful break over the holidays with family and friends.

*Note: Friday is the deadline for ordering Hot Lunch for January! https://rbes.hotlunches.net/admin/

In the Classroom:

ELA: Our Printing module is ongoing. We are continuing with our Daily 5 each day. This week we are having our yellow word assessment. We are doing a couple more holiday reading and writing projects.

Math: Practicing skip counting,  graphing, and measuring. We are also working on pre-addition skills in our math center games.  This will help prepare the Grade 1s for January when we start our addition and subtraction unit!

Social: Traditions

Science: We will be writing about our December tree this week. Please ensure your child has drawn their tree and has brought back the green duotang.  Thanks!

PE: Final reminders for skating. .. Students need the permission form filled out on Powerschool, skates and a helmet (we have some at the rink if you don't have your own). We also require one parent volunteer on the ice skating with us, and several helpers for skate tying/untying.

Thanks so much to everyone for all the extra assistance this week! Skating helpers,  donations of candy, cookies, and play dough,  assistance in the classroom... the list goes on. We couldn't do all this without you! So thank you for your part in making our week wonderful!  <3
