"Out with the Old, in with the New" sure rings true around here! Over the break RBES underwent some major renovations including the foyer and the staff room. If you've been in this week, you'll have noticed the whiter and brighter entryway, and as for the staff room: Best Surprise for Staff ever! We were all blown away by the thoughtfulness and generousity of the parents and community who pulled this project off in amazing style so we could have a beautiful place to recharge. 1K, in a much much smaller way, did away with the old and brought in the new as well. We have new Home/School pouches! As our yellow folders had become quite worn, we are now using the Kanga Pouch to transport papers, library books, and the 'Book and Beads' Home Reading Folder. I hope you agree, it is much better. :)

Scholastic Book Orders were sent home today and are due by next Friday.
Next Friday is also the due date to order Hot Lunch for February. http://www.rbes.ca/hot-lunch.html

With the very cold temperatures and indoor recesses, it is encouraging to know there are so many awesome PE activities keeping us moving and active!
- The Grade 1/2s start soccer intramurals next week.
- Drumfit starts next week and runs for two weeks.
- We will be skating Jan. 26-29. Volunteers needed. :)
- January 27 is Jump Rope for Heart.
- Marriott Fitness visits our class every week to do movement activities, as well as offer
- Fitness for Fun Wednesdays at lunch.
- We do active breaks every afternoon in the classroom.
- And Dawn continues to do yoga with our students every month.
Hopefully, it will warm up next week so we can also get outside to play!
Other events upcoming include 80's Day on January 14. The theme of the 80's was extremes: big hair and bold colors, designed to make you stand out and get noticed. Have some fun with this dress up day! Also the 80th day of school. ;)
