A Peek at the First Week

Introducing 1B!

                                     

On the First Day of School we spent much of the day getting to know our classmates and settling into our new routines. We read a story called First Day Jitters. 
In this story the main character was nervous about going to school on the first day. Ask your child about the surprise ending! We talked about the different feelings we had on the first day of school and then drew a picture about how we felt. 

This week we also read a story called Chrysanthemum. Chrysanthemum was teased at school because her name was long and different. We did an experiment to find out what happens when we say words that are not nice. We made a promise to each other to always use kind words in our class and school.

 

In the end a special teacher helped Chrysanthemum and the other students understand that everyone has a name that is absolutely perfect for them. We did an activity to find out how many letters were in each of our names. Chrysanthemum has 13!

Other first week highlights: the Mary Lambert musical show, Recess, and PE! It was a busy and fun first week. Hope everyone is relaxing and resting up for the second week of school starting Tuesday!
