Here's a peek into what we have been up to in 1B:
The Fox and the Falling Leaves is a sweet story and one of our theme books. We completed an art project starring Fletcher and lovely watercolour leaves.
Autumn writing: Students wrote a poem called Farewell Summer, Hello Fall. We brainstormed ideas and students chose what they would include in their poem. In Grade One writing goals include: appropriate use of capital and lowercase letters, spacing, neatness, and punctuation (if needed). We have some very neat printers in 1B!
More writing: We are Thankful for...
Finally, we read a story called There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Pie. Students completed a sequencing activity and we created a class book, 'We know an Old Lady who swallowed a_____.' Students brought home a Thanksgiving Reader along with their regular Home Reading and 5 new Rainbow words.
New Math unit! We started a Patterning unit. Students identified patterns in the classroom, built and copied patterns. We learned patterns can be seen and also heard! We played a game where we created and repeated hand clapping patterns.

In Phys. Ed. this week we participated in Movement stations. Lots of fun was had while we developed fundamental skills!
