Celebrating the 50th day of School with 50s Day! |
There is so much to tell you about 50s Day! We started off with recognizing the number 50 and representing it in different ways. We've been working on skip counting so today we counted by 5s to 50. We played a game and practiced counting by 5s to 50 using many different voices and actions. Keep practicing this skill at home! (5-10-15-20-25-30-35-40-45-50)
In ELA we read a story called Petunia. It's a great story about a silly goose that learns how to become wise (by learning to read of course!). The story was published in 1950.
We wrote and illustrated a class book called, I wish I had 50...
We had a Sock Hop in the gym, danced to 50s music, did the twist, and learned to hula hoop! What fun! We also learned to Hand Jive. Zero the Hero popped in with some bubblegum and a challenge! Who can blow a bubble? Everyone got a 50s Day activity book and made a record commemorating being '50 days Smarter'. We also had a Mystery Reader today! Thanks to Mrs. Reimer for reading to us. We had a fabulous 50th Day! Thanks to everyone who dressed up 50s style!
