In the Classroom

ELA

We began our Poetry unit by writing a Spring acrostic poem as a class and then made our own Rainbow Name-bow acrostic poems that we hung from our ceiling.
It looks like Spring has sprung! This week we will write a list poem called Ouch!

Students have 4 Purple words to study. We will continue with our Daily 5 and Reading groups. We are working our reading stamina and are almost at 15mins! Students bring one book home to read each night. Please initial the home reading sheet each time your child reads a book. Thanks!

Math

Math games and Measuring.
We began our Measuring unit by discussing terms such as long, longer, longest.
We heard that long ago people used the kings foot to measure before there was standardized measurement. We traced our foot and compared it to items in our class.

Science

Seasonal Change Spring, Living vs non-living things, Seed exploration

Students learned about plant growth and growing needs at Golden Greenhouse and now have 2 plants to care for! We will take a closer look at seeds this week. We will make our own greenhouse to grow a bean plant in.
