In the Classroom

ELA/Science

We have completed our study of Fairytales and will be doing our final writing project: Writing a Fairytale! Our castles are built and painted; we will be putting the details on this week. They look great so far! Thank you for sending in boxes and tubes for this project. We also built little baskets this week after reading Little Red Riding Hood. Students did a puppet show version of Little Red Riding Hood that was lots of fun to perform as they read/retold the story.  Finally, we enjoyed doing guided drawings of all the fairytale characters.
I have completed the Reading Assessment with just over half the class and will continue this week.

These sweet baskets were sure a hit!
They were used as desk caddies, little purses, and even as a flipping toy!

Builders hard at work.
Castles getting their base coat on!

Math

Students are enjoying working on Adding and Subtracting in their math journals. We just completed the last addition activity and are starting a focus on Subtraction (up to 20).

Social

Our PenPals wrote back! They made us a beautiful art card. We will be writing them back this week.

Finally, we showed appreciation for our many school volunteers this week. Our class made flowers, cards, sang a song, and did a fun thank you picture for the slideshow. We also brought home a sunflower to share with our families. Thank you for helping us grow!
