There are some skates and helmets available to borrow in limited sizes. Volunteers can meet us at the rink 15 mins before our skate time. Your help is much appreciated, thank you! Students must have their permission filled out to be able to come.

Our recess and lunch times will be adjusted to accommodate the skating schedule this week.

In the Classroom

ELA

We are focusing on writing this week as we read and write about winter. We made our writing folders that will help keeps us organized as we become good writers. This week we wrote a list. We also made a class book about winter animals and worked on writing sentences about winter. This week we are reading two more winter stories: Sneezy the Snowman and Snowman at Night. We will be writing about snowmen!

We brainstormed a collection of winter words
that helped us complete sentences about Winter.

We read a lovely story called Over and Under the Snow.
We sorted all the the animals according to where they live,
and then chose one to write a sentence about.
We started a mural based on the book. See our adorable skiers!

Math

We are working on Addition and Numbers to 100. This week we will learn about the many strategies we can use to solve adding problems. We will also play a new version of the game 'I have... Who has?'. This time with Tally marks! Students will practice counting by 5s.

Science

We will start our Colour Science unit!

Social

We are focusing on being Good Citizens and Caring Community members.

I am very excited we will be starting a program called Kimochis. Read about Kimochis here: What are Kimochis?
