In the Classroom
ELA/Science
Fairytales is our last unit this year. We'll be reading a variety of traditional and twisted fairytales. Integrated with science, we will be doing a STEM challenge for each of the fairytales we study. Our unit includes fairytale story elements, puppetry, readers theatre, and story writing.
We will continue with the Daily 5 (reading, word work, and writing). Students are enjoying the program Teach Your Monster to Read. This can be accessed from home. Maintaining a Home Reading routine is important as we head into our final month of school. This is the final week for our whole grade Reading group program.
Students just finished writing their first story based on the book, Harold and the Purple Crayon. We are excited to read them to a buddy this week!
Math/Science
We are enjoying our 2D/3D math unit. We used 3D shapes to build castles and towers. We continue with our studying this week. Students will be sorting shapes according to attributes and identifying a sorting rule. We will continue to learn the names of the various 3D shapes.
This week we have a guest engineer from the Alberta Science Network coming to do a building project with us!
Social
