We've been having so much fun with our fairytale unit! So far we've read Goldilocks and the 3 Bears and performed a puppet play, read the The Three Little Pigs, as well as a few twisted fairytale versions. We built a house of straws, sticks, or bricks and tested its strength with my Big Bad Blow-dryer. We read the The Three Billie Goats Gruff and did a Bridge Building challenge. And finally, met some Royal fairytale characters in The Princess and the Pea, and, Cinderella. We are now in the middle of constructing Fairytale castles. We will be reading one more Fairytale this week, Little Red Riding Hood, learning about lessons and morals found in fairytales and doing one more building project, making a paper basket.
Check out our houses and castle construction!
Math
We've been exploring 2D/3D shapes. Here we are making 2D shapes on the geoboards. We will be doing a few more geometry activities this week and then will be focusing solely on Addition and Subtraction for the remainder of the year.Social
Students will be looking at how things have changed over time. We will be doing a Timeline of ourselves, and then will learn more about how our community, Devon, has changed over time.
