ELA/Science: Fairytales and Building

This week we are building fairytale castles. If you did not bring in your boxes or paper rolls, it's not too late! Sample castles:

Rainbow words: We are continuing to practice our words during Daily 5 time. Please practice the words until fluent. Students should not need to sound these words out. If the word can be read within 1 second, they no longer need to practice the word. If it takes 3 secs or longer to read a word, keep practicing daily. Fast recall of these high-frequency words will help with all other areas of reading.
Writing: We are writing about fairytales as well as doing free writing in our Writing folders.
Our Penpals wrote back! We have already started writing back and will send them away to our Penpals in Edmonton this week.
Reading: Reading groups have ended. We are doing Guided Reading as part of our Daily 5. We will continue with the Home Reading program for at least 2 more weeks.
Newsies! What a show!

Math: 2D/3D shapes

This week we will be creating 2D shapes and recognizing them in our environment. Students will design a midway ride using 2D shapes.

Social: The Past

PE

We had a great 2 weeks of swimming!
Students have the opportunity to enjoy free swim time on the last week of school. I have booked us in for June 25-27 first thing in the morning. We will require 3-4 parent volunteers to swim with us. Thank you to those parents who have already volunteered!

This week in PE we will be participating in Track and Field events. Those students who have sign up for the Track meet and who have been practicing with Mrs. Kloschinsky and Mr. Van Huis will be going to Riverview on Friday for the events. You will have received an email notification for this. Please ensure you have filled out the permission form if your child is going. Thanks! The remaining students will be doing activities at the school. Go Raptors!
