This Week Monday: Tuesday: Library Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: Assembly 8:40am, Spring Walk 1-3pm In the Classroom ELA Final 4 purple words. Reading groups. Poetry continued. We wrote a list poem after reading a funny poem by Shel Silverstein. A list poem does exactly as described and collects content in a list form. See our 'Ouch' poems below. Math Measurement: mass and capacity Learning about Area Social Community. Mapping and building our community, Taking care of our Earth Culture presentation. We learned the Cultural Wheel has 4 parts: Folklore, Community, Participation, Celebration. The whole school participated in the retelling of a story, singing a folk song (Sasha), and dancing (we learned a jig!). Dental Hygienist presentation. Much thanks to HORIZON Orthodontics in Spruce Grove for sponsoring this program.

Ouch!

We published our 'Ouch' poems today. Students got a kick out of the Bandaid poem by Shel Silverstein in which the narrator of the poem listed off 34 places he put a bandaid and yet had not one cut or sore! We just put one. :)

Home Reading

Funny but True! It becomes apparent around January which students spend time reading at home and which ones don't. In our busy lives it is increasingly difficult to carve out 20 mins of reading time. Yet it is the single most important thing a student can do to ensure school success. This infographic exemplifies the difference. Below are some tips on how to incorporate reading at home as well as some reading strategies to help your growing reader!
