Halloween Week Fun

ELA

Monsters!

This week we worked on a Monster writing project. We went through the writing process. First, reading several monster story books, we collected a whole bunch of monster adjectives. We then used a graphic organizer to record words that described our monster. Finally, we wrote a rough draft of our under-the-bed monster description. We are sharing our stories with our classmates, writing a final copy, and will display them with our beds and monster drawings next week.

Math

T-tables was the math focus this week. We used our knowledge of identifying the gap and continuing a pattern to complete T-tables. One student noted, 'I think we are multiplying.' Indeed we were! We will having an end of the unit test on Patterning next week.

Science

This week in science we learned what the different parts of the human ear are. We also made ear drums and guitars so we could study vibrations and pitch.

Social Studies

We learned about different celebrations in India and talked about how they are the same and different then what we celebrate in Canada. We also learned that Diwali was this past weekend!

Halloween Party

A costume parade, a Monster STEM challenge, and a movie filled the day in 3A.

Happy Halloween!!
